You’ve seen me write about rhythm in nature and dancing animals, but what about inanimate objects? Anyone who has seen the dancing water in Las Vegas knows that humans are more than capable of using technology to make anything dance. If cartoon characters can dance, why not light or water? This video is about a light sculpture, a wonderful use of technology in art and music. I would say the light is dancing to the music, wouldn’t you?
When I was in college I drove to Hollywood to see the Art and Technology show. It was collaboration between famous artists and technology companies. Each artist was paired with a particular company to create a work of art making use of the companies tech capabilities in the artist’s design. This was in the early seventies, long before the age of computers, and the artists really had fun. I’d love to see it again today using the amazing technology of today. It might look something like this.
