Nude Dancers in Real Life Enter the Art World

dancing in the golden years

Some of these women are dancers, but that’s really just an excuse for me to share this amazing work.  These paintings knocked my socks off when I saw them.  So beautiful in so many ways and painted with such love I wanted to have them all in my life.

some dancers, some not: redefining beauty

Particularly in the dance world there is a huge emphasis on having a “dancer’s body”.  Translates to anorexic teenage body type and even if you are not in professional or classical dance (where it’s a requirement) it’s hard not to compare yourself.  As we age, maintaining a positive self-image in the dance world becomes increasingly difficult.

This wonderful artist reframes the concept of nudes in art so show real women, full of joy and full of life.  Without the typical dancer’s body, so beloved of artists throughout history, these women shine.  Take a look and see if you agree!
