How long will it take to learn to dance?

This question is very individual.

It depends on how quickly you pick it up, how much you practice, and how much you want to learn.

The first dance you learn will be your introduction to dance and the hardest dance you'll ever learn.

Through it, you'll learn the principals of how to dance: leading and following, connection to a partner, balance, weight shift, physical integrity.

Once you've learned how to dance, other dances will come much more quickly.

Once you've learned the basics of any dance, it's up to you how many figures you want to learn to create a repertoire that is varied enough for you.

What dance should I start with?

Your first dance should be relatively easy, go with music that appeals to you and a community with which you'll be comfortable.

We'll talk about the various dance communities in the area and help you make that decision.

Do you offer group dance classes?

Only private lessons, but it could be private lessons for a group. If you want to organize a class for a group of friends, a wedding party, two or three couples, or more, you can set that up for a time that is convenient for your group.

What is your cancellation policy?

You have 24 hours to cancel without charge. If you are doing one lesson at a time, pay for each lesson at the time you make the appointment (except for the first one). Making an appointment represents a commitment to taking it sometime, so there are no refunds. If you cancel within 24 hours, you can reschedule. If not, you lose the deposit and pay for the appointment. If you are early, there is a chance you can start early, but if you are late you‚ll have a shorter lesson. You can request an exception if it's an emergency.

How much do lessons cost?

Regular prices

Private lessons are $80/hr for an individual, or $370 for a 5 lesson package. Couples are $90/hour if you buy a 5 lesson package, or $100/hr if you pay individually. You are welcome to wait until the lesson is over before deciding whether or not you want to commit to a series of five lessons. For groups of more than 2 people, add $10/person to the total hourly cost.

Deluxe packages

Want to dance with an experienced partner instead of with your partner who is also a beginner in your private lesson? Want some leeway in the time of your appointment? Want a chance to practice with an experienced partner?

For $250/hr your private lesson provides you with an experienced partner whether you are an individual or part of a couple. No one is scheduled within a half hour on either end of your lesson. If you’re late, you still get your full hour. If you’re early, you don’t have to wait. If you are reasonably close, you can choose between coming to my studio or having the lesson come to you. If you are more than 15 minutes away, an extra fee for travel time will be negotiated. A five lesson package includes two free practice sessions at my studio with your experienced partners.

Events

You can hire LaurieAnn to come to your party or event to teach for an hour for $250.
